Candis Kinkus and Her Long Career in Administrative Work
When people talk about Candis Kinkus, the first thing that comes to the people’s mind is reputable health administrator. Kinkus has been in this line of work ever since she obtained her Master of Business Administration in Marketing and Finance from the University of Pittsburgh – Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business.
In her entire career, she has contributed greatly to the development of Medical Science in the state of Pennsylvania. For more than 30 years, she has been one of the best hospital administrators in the entire United States. Her career was spent mostly as an administrator of hospitals and even medical schools. The administrative work of Kinkus includes working in various departments such as pathology, community medicine and emergency medicine, education and research foundation in Pennsylvania, and the Atlantic health system of New Jersey.
The credentials of Candis Kinkus as a hospital administrator are plenty. She has already worked in the states of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and currently in Tennessee.
Her very first administrative job was as a director of Morristown Memorial Hospital in New Jersey. She had a number of functions while she was with Morristown. It includes creating and implementing new commercial laboratories and then generating annual revenues which reached to millions of dollars. The rise in revenue has continued in the time when Kinkus was with Morristown and for a number of years.
Candis Kinkus then returned to Pennsylvania to work as manager for the Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. In her job as manager, she supervised the construction of a new facility which is worth $32 million. Kinkus also supported the cross-training which helped different departments to work jointly.
After Highmark, Kinkus worked as the director of Medical College of Pennsylvania and Allegheny General Hospital. While she was there, Kinkus managed more than 35,000 employees of three departments. The departments are Allegheny University Medical Practices; Department of Emergency Medicine, Allegheny General Hospital; and Department of Pathology, Medical College of Pennsylvania.
Kinkus then worked for Gateway Medical Group as their practice manager. Some of her contributions while working for Gateway were production of written clerical and clinical procedures which was used to ensure consistent practices in patient-care.
Magee-Women’s Hospital of UPMC was the next stop for Kinkus where she worked as director of the Department of Pathology. She provided support services to legal, nursing, information services, and risk management.
Currently, Kinkus works as an Administrative Director of Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In VUMC, Kinkus provides over five million tests per year as well as managing their budget of more than $50 million. Kinkus has been working for VUMC since 2009.
